Activity Synopsis

To examine and discuss the practical application of the Code of Conduct for Azerbaijani media during election campaigns that was agreed during a Council of Europe seminar in July 2005 (see CEAD 10852). 

Based on prepared role play scenarios targeting various elements of the Code, the training seminar was interactive and constructive in developing and promoting understanding and application of the Code in the run-up to the November 2005 Parliamentary elections.

This training seminar resulted in the preparation of written guidelines, kindly prepared by the local expert moderator, Zeynal Mammadli, on the application of the Code based on various role play scenarios, which was disseminated widely. 

The training seminar was a very useful event in developing and strengthening media professionalism during the run-up to the Parliamentary elections.
