Activity Synopsis

Objective(s):

The seminar was very well organised. The participants were very active during the discussions. They stressed that in the current Russian situation the Council of Europe standards are difficult to implement for two main reasons: the lack of professionalism among journalists and the lack of editorial independence of both editors-in-chief and journalists vis-à-vis the State authorities. From the exchange of views, it was also clear that journalists, in particular those working in the regions, do not know their rights and duties.
