Activity Synopsis

 
Objective(s):

The aim of the conference was to:

1. present an overview on the European standards and on the competences of European Regulators
2. discuss to what extent the functioning of the Media Regulator in Ukraine conforms to the European standards
3. present the functioning of some of the European regulators, such as: from France, UK, Italy. Ireland and Bosnia-Herzegovina taking into account the transparency and independence in its functions
4. discuss in particular the licensing procedure – principles and standards of transparency and of controlling power and independency of regulators: legal norms and current status in Europe.
 

Output/Results:

- The conference gave the Ukrainian’s the opportunity to better understand the European context of the functioning of the regulator and the opportunity to exchange some problems such as problems related to the licensing procedure and independence from the political context.

- Interesting presentations of the European experts were alive and provoked the active discussions with the audience coming from the main stakeholders.
 

Conclusions/Follow Up:

To plan some workshops for the staff of the National Broadcasting Council on Television and radio Broadcasting.
