Introductory seminar for a group of 30 North Caucasus lawyers on CoE human rights standards |
| Description: |
A group of about 30 lawyers (17 from Chechnya and 13 from the neighbouring republics in the North Caucasus region) will undergo a week-long introductory training on the applicable human rights standards in the Russian Federation. The same group is to continue receving human rights training in the course of 2003 in the form of 5 more week-long sessions. These five following sessions will focus more on the European Convention on Human Rights and its enforcement mechanism. The targeted outcome is that the group of lawyers will be trained to a sufficient standard in order to commence independent work on human rights related cases locally and before the Strasbourg Human Rights Court. |
