Description: |
The Council of Europe, in the framework of a joint initiative with the European Commission, is launching a human rights ''train-the-trainers'' pilot programme for the Turkish police and gendarmerie. It is part of a longer-term strategy aimed at integrating human rights into the police training and generally raising professionalism and respect for human rights within the police and gendarmerie.
A first pilot course is taking place at the police academy, TADOC in Ankara from 11 February to 5 March, followed by further practical and theoretical skills acquisition, including courses in European police training institutes, lasting until 7 June.
