Title: |
Symposium on recognition on youth work and non formal learning |
Description: |
Recognition of non-formal learning and of youth work was subject of various activities of the EU-CoE youth partnership, amongst the support of the conference on the same topic in Prague in 2008 and the Youth Work Convention in July 2010 in Ghent, organised under the Belgian EU Presidency. A number of stakeholders (NA’s, SALTO RC TCP, Advisory Group YouthPass, Expert Group Youth Worker Portfolio, European Youth Forum…) have expressed the need for a more coordinated and reinforced approach at European level and expressed the expectation to the EU-CoE youth partnership team to play a coordinating role. As a first step the working paper “Pathways towards recognition of non-formal and informal learning in the youth field” was updated by the EU-CoE youth partnership team in cooperation with the European Commission, the European Youth Forum and the YiA National Agency in Germany. It was published in January 2011. As a second initiative the EU-CoE youth partnerhsip invited an expert group (task force) to further support the political process. Two meetings in January and September took place in 2011 in order to discuss the further strategy and to plan the symposium. The symposium aimed at developing recommendations for future action and to draft a concrete plan of action addressed to the various stakeholders in the field. |
