Euro-Arab Youth Conference “Mare Nostrum: Youth, Migration and Development”

| Description: |
The conference was co-organised by the Italian Youth Forum, the European Youth Forum, the League of Arab States and the Council of Europe’s Directorate of Youth and Sport.
The conference aimed at extending and deepening Euro-Arab youth cooperation in the field of migration and human rights and to consolidate the process of the informal Euro-Arab youth fora initiated in Amman in 2008 and continued in Assilah, Morocco, in 2009 (also on the theme of migration and human rights).
The Directorate of Youth and Sport of the Council of Europe has played a central role in this cooperation, including financial support by the European Youth Foundation to the Amman and Assilah fora. In 2010, this activity is part of the project “Living Together in Diverse Societies – youth policy and youth work promoting intercultural dialogue” . The youth sector of the Council of Europe was part of the preparatory group of the conference and contributed with 22 participants residing in Europe, selected through the European Youth Forum and through other youth networks, including the Advisory Council on Youth.
The conference had the full support of the Italian Ministry of Youth and of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in addition to the regional and local authorities of Ragusa. |
