BACKGROUND INFORMATION
In 2007, the Youth-Partnership between the Council of Europe and the European Commission decided to develop a new generic Training Course for Trainers at advanced level. This Training for Trainers is a Youth-Partnership activity run together by the Council of Europe, the European Commission and its partners (NAs and SALTO networks), in co-operation with the European Youth Forum. This Training Course should constitute the first step towards the creation of a co-ordinated approach of training trainers in Europe. The organisation of this Training Course will benefit from an important institutional recognition from all stakeholders.
The name of this long-term Training Course is TALE (''Trainers for Active Learning in Europe'').
The preparation and design phase of the Training Course started in 2008, while the implementation is foreseen in 2009-2010. Two Steering Group meetings (April and September 2008) gathering the representatives of the main stakeholders involved in the project set the political objectives of the Training Course, its target group, its scope and a draft timeline for implementation. A first preparatory meeting of the Course team also took place in November 2008: it developed a common educational approach towards the Training Course, as well as a draft curriculum.
This second preparatory meeting of the Course team will aim at further developing the curriculum of the Training for Trainers.
OBJECTIVES
The 2nd preparatory meeting of the Course team scheduled in February 2009 aims to, amongst others:
• further develop the draft curriculum of the Training Course;
• further plan and prepare the e-learning features of the Training Course and be trained on them as necessary;
• further discuss the assessment and evaluation strategies of the Training Course, possibly in link with the Steering Group;
• finalise the selection of participants, if necessary;
• meet the Steering Group in a Joint Meeting (10 February) to discuss issues of common interest.
N.B: this meeting is strictly reserved for invited members of the Course team only. It is NOT OPEN to external participants. |
