Title: Training Course on European Citizenship (EC-UK in United Kingdom) 
Description: The Council of Europe & European Commission ''Youth-Partnership'' (joint programme) regularly organises short-term Training Courses that address various aspects of European Citizenship.
These Training Courses aim at supporting the professional development of youth workers and youth leaders by extending their competencies to integrate elements of European citizenship within their projects and practice.

Between October 2007 and March 2008, 6 Training Courses will be organised by the Partnership, in co-operation with the SALTO Training and Cooperation RC and six National Agencies of the Youth in Action programme.

THE CURRENT COURSE WILL TAKE PLACE IN THE UNITED KINGDOM IN OCTOBER 2007.

Aim of the Training Courses on European Citizenship:
The Training Courses on European Citizenship are aimed at supporting the professional development of youth workers and youth leaders by extending their critical understanding of European Citizenship, exploring and experiencing its potential, and enabling them to recognise and integrate European Citizenship in their youth work.

Objectives of the Training Courses on European Citizenship:
1/ To critically explore the meaning relevance and implications of European Citizenship in youth work in all its dimensions;
2/ To promote and facilitate the active use of programmes and structures in support of youth work on European Citizenship;
3/ To experiment and explore the potential of European Citizenship for active democratic change in society;
4/ To associate the participants with the current discourse on European Citizenship (its concepts, formal meanings, and expressions);
5/ To exemplify (make clear, make explicit) the connection between European Citizenship, Human Rights, Democracy, and ICL as well as the underlying values.

Target group of the Training Courses on European Citizenship:
The Courses are intended to address individuals working with young people in a professional capacity on a paid or voluntary basis (e.g. youth workers, youth leaders, community and social workers), who:
a/ have experience in directly developing and managing a project with and for young people;
b/ have organised or co-organised at least one youth project with an international dimension;
c/ are committed and motivated to work directly with young people on issues related to European Citizenship;
d/ are supported by their organisation in their current and future work;
e/ have a general knowledge and understanding of youth and youth work realities in their contexts;
f/ are motivated to undergo training and able to attend the course for its full duration;
g/ are able to work in English;
h/ are resident in a Member State of the Council of Europe or in another country signatory to the ECC.
