Expert meeting ''Young People with Fewer Opportunities and Volunteering'' |

The main focus of this expert seminar was involving young people with fewer opportunities in voluntary activities on local, national and international level. It continued and intensified the discussions hold in the research seminar on “Young people and voluntary activities in Europe” in July 2004 (see edited collection of outcomes in “Charting the landscape of European youth voluntary activties”).
Two approaches were represented: organised voluntary services and voluntary engagement on daily basis. Obstacles of both internal and external nature encountered in promotion and practice of volunteering among young people with fewer opportunities were discussed.
Three perspectives considered in approaching the topic:
• Policy perspective
• Education perspective
• Social work perspective
