Title: Training Course Conflict Transformation and Multi-Cultural Youth Work 
Description: 10 day training activity on the theme of conflict transformation in the context of multi-cultural youth work



Aim:

The overall aim of this course is to enable participants to more effectively deal with issues of conflict and conflict transformation in a multi-cultural youth work context. The training course will specifically focus on analysing conflict and conflicts, how they relate to specific youth work contexts, particularly those of a multi-cultural nature and at the relevance of intercultural approaches to conflict transformation. The course will also focus on dealing with the fact that at one and the same time , the youth leader or worker is implied in the conflict he/she is trying to address and can have a role in its transformation.



Target Group:

Active members, project carriers, voluntary or professional youth workers working in International Youth Organisations (INGYOs), National Youth Councils (NYCs), other national, local or international youth organisations, networks, or youth initiatives, governmental services and other partners, in particular those co-operating with the European Youth Centres or the European Youth Foundation, the Youth programme of the European Union will be selected for this course.



All candidates should have a specific practical experience in the field of conflict transformation and be working in or with multi-cultural youth work settings, inter-community projects, reconciliation projects, anti-racism work or in another relevant field. Additional experience in the field of intercultural education will be considered in the selection process. Candidates who have little experience, but who are faced with the reality of conflict in their everyday practice of youth work will also be given priority



In addition, candidates who will be responsible for projects / activities of of relevance, with a multi-cultural and / or conflict transformation dimesnion over the next year to 18 months or who have responsibility for issues of conflict transformation in their organisation, are particularly welcome to apply. Candidates from conflict areas in Europe will be given special consideration in the selection procedures.



All candidates should:



• be aged between 18 and 35 years;

• be actively involved in a youth organisation or governmental service, and in a position to take on responsibilities within multi-cultural or intercultural activities after the course;

• be well informed about their organisation and prepared to explain its activities to the other participants;

• be able to work in one of the two working languages of the course (EN/FR);

• be committed to attend for the full duration of the course and be supported by their youth organisation, governmental service or a national agency of the YOUTH programme of the European Union with a letter of recommendation from a responsible member of the staff or board of the organisation confirming their support for both the candidate and their ability to multiply the training.
