Training course for youth leaders of intercultural youth projects of the Alliance of Civilizations

The Directorate of Youth and Sport has been a partner of the Alliance of Civilizations, particularly its youth dimension, since its beginning. This cooperation follows now the cooperation commitments of the Council of Europe and the Alliance of Civilizations expressed in the memorandum of understanding between them.
Within the framework of its on Youth Programme on Human Rights Education and Intercultural Dialogue, the Council of Europe’s Directorate of Youth and Sport and the Alliance of Civilizations co-organised a training course for leaders of intercultural youth projects. The projects concerned are projects developed with the financial support of the Alliance of Civilizations Youth Solidarity Fund, whose deadline was 30 September 2009.
The training course aimed developing the competences of leaders in those youth projects in planning and implementing their project and to support networking among them and the two cooperating institutions.
The course reflects the approaches shared by the Council of Europe and the Alliance of Civilizations about intercultural dialogue, youth participation and human rights education as a framework for sustaining the role of young people in global solidarity and dialogue. The course builds on the experiences of the non-formal education applied to intercultural training settings.
