Title: TALE (Trainers for Active Learning in Europe): 3rd preparatory meeting of the Course team.
Description: BACKGROUND INFORMATION

In 2007, the Youth-Partnership between the Council of Europe and the European Commission decided to develop a new generic Training Course for Trainers at advanced level. This Training for Trainers is a Youth-Partnership activity run together by the Council of Europe, the European Commission and its partners (NAs and SALTO networks), in co-operation with the European Youth Forum. This Training Course should constitute the first step towards the creation of a co-ordinated approach of training trainers in Europe. The organisation of this Training Course will benefit from an important institutional recognition from all stakeholders.

The name of this long-term Training Course is TALE (''Trainers for Active Learning in Europe'').

The preparation and design phase of the Training Course started in 2008, while the implementation is foreseen in 2009-2010. Two Steering Group meetings (April and September 2008) gathering the representatives of the main stakeholders involved in the project set the political objectives of the Training Course, its target group, its scope and a draft timeline for implementation. Two preparatory meetings of the Course team also took place in November 2008 and February 2009: they developed a common educational approach towards the Training Course, as well as a draft curriculum.

OBJECTIVES

This third preparatory meeting of the Course team will aim at further planning the Training for Trainers, and more specifically at tackling the following issues:
• Revised curriculum: comments and further revisions.
• E-learning platform: review of latest technical developments, draft contents, update, questions.
• Review of the e-learning/preparation phase (contents).
• Review of the competence framework.
• Development of the self-assessment strategy (tools, instruments).
• Review of the evaluation strategy.
• Detailed planning of the 1st residential seminar to be organised in May 2009 (aim, objectives, programme, technical needs).
• Timeline for further preparation and tasks sharing.
