Title: Research Seminar on Young People and Active European Citizenship
Description: The Partnership in Youth Research between the Council of Europe and the European Commission is organising an international, interdisciplinary research seminar on the topic of Young People and Active European Citizenship. The seminar will take place on November 23-25, 2006 at the European Youth Centre, Budapest.

The seminar will discuss the theoretical and practical nature of European citizenship for young people in Europe today. What does citizenship mean for young people? What does being European mean to them? What are the modes of participation open to young people at all levels that can contribute to building a sense of European affinity? What does it mean to be an active citizen? What are the policies and programmes open to young people towards active citizenship? Are they working? All these questions, and more, shall be addressed by the seminar. Inputs of both a theoretical and a practical nature are encouraged. Researchers accepted to present a paper at the seminar will be joined by policy-makers and youth practioners from around Europe in discussions over the three days of the seminar.

To apply send a brief CV and a 500 word abstract along with an application form (in the document attached) to youth-partnership@coe.int no later than September 15, 2006.
