Activity Synopsis |
Objective(s): | This course involved a small group of six trainees brought together for six months of theoretical and practical instruction. The participants came from the main ethnic communities (two ethnic Macedonians, two Albanians, one Turk and one Roma). Kim Mehmeti, AIM’s representative in FYROM for ten years, was appointed Deputy Director of the state MRTV television in 2003. He rapidly realised the enormous need for training among the journalists working there.
Output/Results: | The training was both theoretical and practical. Ljubisha Nikolovski, editor of multicultural programmes at MRTV, gave practical training, incorporating the trainees into the editorial team where they made programmes on social, cultural and youth issues. These programmes were made in their mother tongues, but the content was translated so that the other participants could follow and discuss their work. The theoretical training was given by Kim Mehmeti. This involved weekly lectures and group discussions on the contributions produced the previous week by the trainees.
