Activity Synopsis

 
Objective(s):

The general objective of this expertise mission was to review with the drafters as well as other relevant representatives, the CoE experts’ written comments submitted prior to the mission. This meeting, the first organised in co-operation with the Serbian Parliament on this draft text, was the fourth opportunity for the Serbian drafters to exchange views with the CoE experts on the draft Public information law. The aim of the mission was to suggest amendments to the drafters in order to align the text with the relevant European standards. 

Output/Results:

One of the key results achieved during the mission was to provide the Minister of Culture and the Serbian Parliamentarians with a clear message of incompatibility of the drafts Law submitted to the CoE’s experts. 

Conclusions/Follow Up:

The Minister of Culture decided to take a pro-active role in the drafting process of the Law on Public Information in order to achieve its full harmonisation with European standards. Additional assistance might be requested to the CoE.
